News Release: BHDD Office of Mental Health & Correct Care Recovery Solutions Announce the Opening of a New Treatment Facility

Columbia, SC – The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) Office of Mental Health (BHDD Office of Mental Health) and Correct Care Recovery Solutions (CCRS), a division of CCS-CMGC, announced the opening of a new facility to treat individuals committed to BHDD Office of Mental Health under the State’s Sexually Violent Predator Act. The new facility will create jobs for nearly 200 nurses, clinicians, and security personnel from the surrounding community.

The new 268-bed, state-of-the-art facility is specifically designed to provide treatment services to sexually violent predators in a highly secure facility. The new facility is one result of a pioneering public-private partnership for South Carolina, allowing for the efficient, cost-effective delivery of critical state infrastructure. The new facility is the state’s first dedicated treatment center for this population and includes 254 private rooms and a 14-bed infirmary. The multidisciplinary treatment team uses evidence-based practices including the Risk Containment, Good Lives and Risk, Needs, Responsivity treatment approaches.

The facility is operated by CCRS under a management contract with the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) Office of Mental Health.
