The South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs (DDSN) is proud to celebrate Autism Awareness Month in April 2022. Autism spectrum disorder is a complex condition that affects each person differently, and each person living with Autism has their own unique strengths and challenges. That’s why it’s so important for our agency to provide information and resources for individuals, families and communities to be more educated and aware to promote acceptance and inclusivity. For more about DDSN’s services, visit DDSN Services.
The 15th annual World Autism Awareness Day is April 2, 2022, and the theme is “Inclusive Quality Education for All,” which marks the global inequalities in education and society faced by people with Autism. The theme emphasizes the significant need for quality education for all the individuals affected with Autism, which may further help them unlock their full potential to achieve long-term career success.
