Coastal Marshers at NAMI walk

Staff from Coastal Empire CMHC donned their green “Mental Health begins with ME” shirts, laced up, and walked in the 2017 Lowcountry NAMI Walk Saturday, October 21, on Hilton Head Island.

The “Coastal Marshers” enjoyed a beautiful day enjoying one another’s company, while also helping raise funds for NAMI-Lowcountry and all of the wonderful things the organization does for Coastal’s patients and the community as a whole.

    Observed each May, Mental Health Awareness Month highlights the importance of understanding the connection between mental health and substance use, particularly for teens and young adults. The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) encourages families to use this time to check in and start open conversations before summer break.
